Recently, we worked with a client that requested re-building a logo. Their current logo pairs two fonts together that seemed a little incongruous. This website/application explained that feeling in great detail.
It's a good place to start if you're feeling the need to build an identity for your product or business.

Celebrity chefs. Celebrity shoulder surgeons. Why not?
Working with Agency 501 out of Arkansas, Merge is feverishly working on a brand identity for Flexxline, a revolutionary brace system developed by Dr. Wesley Cox,
The prototypes are in and they look awesome.
Dr. Cox and his family then traveled to San Francisco to complete fellowship specialty training in shoulder and elbow surgery and sports medicine. He trained with several world-renowned surgeons including those who first reported the ability to repair rotator cuff tears arthroscopically in the 1980s and the designers of the shoulder replacement that is the most commonly used in the world. During his training and in his practice in Fayetteville, Dr. Cox has worked extensively with high school, collegiate, and professional athletes which gives him the credentials to create such a product.
Over the course of the next year, we'll see big things out of this brand.
A wise hairdresser once told me the secret to a great hairstyle is to "use the angles that are already there." When it came time to get studio space, having a great place to work in - as well as the possibility to transform it into something else was key. To be able to "use the angles" and transform the workspace into a photo studio, or a party room, or both feels right.
Here's to giving this space a workout. Let's see what it can do.
Our bike team needed an identity and some new jerseys.
Since we mainly ride bikes with the ultra-fatty tires, we wanted our identity to show our devotion to the breed. With parts of the image representing some main "principles" of riding these steeds incorporated into the design, the jersey not only stands out in the crowd, but has been a sought-after item among riders believing in living fat.
We've been adventuring around the midwest showing off in them and have had more than a few requests to make jerseys for different teams, so look for some future work soon.
And if you're wondering what the fat bike craze is all about, here's an article we published in fat-bike.com that just about covers it:
Doing some product naming and identity work with Agency501 out of Little Rock, Arkansas collaborating using our patented 3 step process.
Step 1, concept name and acquire URL at 1am in the park.
Step 2, create a concept, imagery, color scheme, tagline and logo variations. Rule out anything non-strategic.
Step 3, celebrate by eating sausages.
The Eastvold brand is building.
Loll, the Duluth based furniture company is the darling of the modern furniture movement. They've contracted Eastvold to create a new line of outdoor furniture in the vein of the current Elko line. The furniture features a new Burnt Maple substrate that is impervious to bugs, water and other nasty natural elements.
We helped this partnership along by creating social media graphics to announce this new collaboration during it's premiere in New York in May.
AMH-RFID came to us with specific needs and a tight deadline. Having successfully completed deals to put their brand of book tracking systems in libraries throughout the east coast, they needed an identity, a logo/mark, a website, and sell sheets - and they needed them quick. We were more than happy to oblige.
We created the identity based on the systematic flow and exchange of books, media and the processes libraries see every day. More successful and speedy book returns mean happier customers and more efficient libraries. The identity captures that spirit. The website is based on a content management system that allows AMH-RFID alter the graphics, imagery and text quickly as their business grows – immediately and without the need for complicated coding.
We wanted to inform attendees of the IFCC Trade Show in New York that the Eastvold Furniture Booth was going to be different this year. Bear Fox Chalk was hired to create a mural that changed daily to entertain guests and give them a little something extra to talk about. We created a social media graphics package, the only advertising done pre-show. People flocked to the modest, but effective booth, told their friends and gathered to take pictures and talk to Eastvold employees. It's a great example of how a cool idea and a little social media updating attracts a crowd.
A digital presence says you're there, but nothing says you've arrived like a sharp, impressive looking business card.
It's just a simple fact, when you hand someone a card that looks this nice, you get the same reaction every time. Someone starts feeling your business card like it's "the precious," trying to figure out how and why it looks that way.
We've just started using a new vendor for business cards that specializes in Varnishes, Foil Stamping and Silk Coating. Just plain beautiful stuff. And it's priced right, so everyone can get the quality usually only reserved for the Big Guys.
Playing off the "More and More Modern Every Year" strategy, Eastvold Furniture's new brochures and sell sheets have both a modern and classically modern feel to them. Using the brand new Neenah Classic Crest for digital printing gave the print pieces a real slick feel and hefty weight to the printed pieces.
The bulk of the print run is complete and will be part of the Eastvold booth at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York, May 18-21.
If you happen to be in New York on May 21, ICFF is open to the public - the last day of the show's run.
Our friends (and exceptionally) cool people) over at Grow are putting the finishing touches on their new line of sustainably built Bamboo skateboards. From these photos, you can almost feel the smooth, buttery texture the bamboo yields when finished.
We at Merge are partnering with Grow to add some new, brand related design to the tops of the boards. The imagery will be screen printed on the board and then sealed.
Can't wait to see it come together. Can't wait for Spring to ride one.
About every other year we make a little Valentine's day promo card for Haug Photography. Every year Haug takes the kind of photos that make us appreciate his simple, clean style and the talent that surrounds his studio. Make-up, wardrobe and assistants always help in producing top-notch work.
Happy Valentine's Day to you and yours.
Envoy Medical needed a fresh ad for this weeks Hollywood Reporter. By creating a simple strategy for the particular ad placement (based on entertainment and music) we were able to work with their internal team to produce this ad in a matter of days. Concepted, executed and delivered to a great team of people at the publication for placement, we saw it on the news stands at the end of the week.
